Mikhail Kaniskin was born in Moscow, Russia in the year 1978. He began his first ballet education in the School of the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow. He proceeded with his education at the Jonh Cranko School in Stuttgart, Germany. While still in school, Mr. Kaniskin was asked to join The Stuttgart Ballet Company in John Cranko´s “The Taiming of the Shrew”. As a member of the school he performed in school galas such programs as “Power Spot” (Renato Zanella) and “La Bayadere pas de deux”.
During the year 1996, Mikhail performed at the Prix de Lausanne Ballet Competition in which he reached the semi finals and very favorable reviews.
In the year 1997 after graduating from the John Cranko Ballet School he was offered a contract with the Stuttgart Ballet.
In the year 2001 he was promoted to Demi Soloist.
In the year 2002 he became a Soloist and on the beginning of the 2004 season he was promoted to Principal Dancer.
Mikhail Kaniskin has performed most of the repertoire of the Stuttgart Ballet not only in Germany but also in tours arround the World. Individually or with the Stuttgart Ballet Misha has danced in New York CIty, Miami, Los Angeles, Toronto, China, Japan, Italy and Korea.
I diverse press articles published both in America and Europe, Mikhail Kaniskin´s artistic talent has been recognized as one of the important talents in the actual ballet scene.
